Mappa is hiring a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to own and improve a production voice ML system end to end.
This role focuses on making an existing voice model more scalable, measurable, efficient, and easier to evolve. The work connects training data, model development, inference performance, and production architecture across the full ML pipeline.
Key responsibilities include owning training data collection, validation, labeling, versioning, and dataset creation; improving data quality and identifying labeling gaps; training, evaluating, deploying, and maintaining production ML models; and comparing new models against the current production model before release.
The role also involves working with audio and voice data, including speech-to-text outputs, speaker diarization, audio preprocessing, feature extraction, Deepgram output, model behavior, and final voice pipeline performance. The engineer will benchmark accuracy, latency, cost, and reliability, while improving inference speed and efficiency through techniques such as quantization, pruning, distillation, or smaller model architectures.
The ideal candidate has strong production ML experience, deep understanding of PyTorch or TensorFlow, strong Python skills, experience with ML data pipelines, audio or voice systems, model optimization, inference efficiency, SQL, and full-system thinking across data, training, evaluation, serving, cost, and operations.
Experience with Deepgram or similar speech-to-text providers, inference pipelines, Modal, containerization, async jobs, model serving, production monitoring, cohort-specific training, model routing, or simplifying complex ML infrastructure is a plus.
This is a full-time remote role for a senior ML engineer or ML systems engineer who can improve a working voice model across data quality, model iteration, evaluation, inference cost, infrastructure simplicity, and production reliability.
