Blaugarnet's Senior AI Engineer is focused on the part of generative AI that becomes difficult after the first impressive prototype: making model-driven systems predictable enough for real enterprise workflows.
The company's AI reasoning layer must plan, retrieve information, use tools, maintain context and memory, validate outputs, and follow rules that cannot simply be entrusted to the language model. The engineer will therefore work on deterministic orchestration around inherently non-deterministic models, placing control flow, authority, validation, and guardrails into engineered systems.
RAG is another substantial part of the work. Blaugarnet needs retrieval across structured and unstructured enterprise information, with vector databases, embedding pipelines, relational data, provenance, and transaction correctness all interacting within the same product. This is closer to building an enterprise knowledge and reasoning system than connecting a generic vector store to a chatbot.
Python and FastAPI form the main backend stack. Engineers will design async services and APIs, integrate OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini models, build MCP-compatible tools, and potentially work with multimodal inputs involving text, vision, and structured data.
Evaluation is treated as infrastructure rather than a one-time testing step. The role includes creating eval datasets, benchmarks, regression checks, guardrails, and monitoring approaches that reveal when changing a prompt, model, or retrieval strategy silently reduces quality.
There is also practical ownership around cost and production engineering: token usage, caching, model routing, latency, Docker, GitHub Actions, CI/CD, deployment, debugging, and observability all matter when the system moves from experiments to customer workloads.
Blaugarnet is looking for approximately 4–6 years of software engineering experience, including 2–3 years of hands-on production AI or GenAI work. Because the team is still early, the engineer will work close to the founders, review architecture, help establish technical standards, and influence what gets built rather than receiving narrowly scoped AI tasks.
