This is much closer to building the technical foundation of a company than joining an established engineering team and taking tickets from a backlog.
Blaugarnet is developing an “Intent Layer” for AI-driven software. Its goal is to capture messy business requirements, reason over them inside a governed system, preserve human authorization, and produce structured technical blueprints that AI coding systems can act on. That makes reliability, traceability, guardrails, and the integrity of business intent central engineering problems rather than secondary compliance features.
The Founding Engineer will own large parts of the system from zero to production. That includes the core reasoning and deliberation engine, context engineering, planning, tool use, memory, validation, retrieval over structured and unstructured information, and the evaluation machinery needed to determine whether AI behavior remains trustworthy as models and prompts change.
Backend work currently centers on Python and FastAPI, with SQL/PostgreSQL used for systems where provenance, transaction correctness, sequencing, and append-only records matter. Production RAG experience is important, including embeddings, vector databases such as pgvector, and retrieval pipelines that operate over messy enterprise data rather than carefully prepared demos.
The scope extends into deployment and operations as well. Docker, Git, CI/CD, cloud AI platforms, observability, performance, token-cost management, caching, model selection, and enterprise deployment constraints can all fall within the Founding Engineer's ownership.
Blaugarnet also expects AI-native development habits. Coding agents such as Claude Code or Cursor are treated as everyday engineering tools, while the engineer remains responsible for architecture, verification, correctness, and technical judgment.
This is aimed at someone with roughly 6–8 years of software engineering experience, including substantial production AI/GenAI exposure, who wants founding-level technical influence without moving into a people-management position. The role works directly with the CEO and is based in Pune with a hybrid arrangement.
